Privacy Policy

This page is general privacy information. It is not legal advice.

The short version

  • Your gift records are saved in your browser using localStorage.
  • The website's own JavaScript does not upload your gift records to a server.
  • No account, sign-in, or email is required to use Gift Memory Saver.
  • Records may be lost if you clear your browser data, lose your device, or uninstall your browser.

What information is stored

When you add a gift, the details you enter — such as the gift name, the person's name, the date, the occasion, any description or memory, whether it is marked as a favorite, and an optional photo — are saved on your device by your browser. The website uses a single localStorage key to keep these records so they remain available when you return.

If you attach a photo, it is resized and compressed in your browser before it is stored. The original full-resolution image is not kept.

Where the information lives

Gift Memory Saver is a static website. The gift records you create are processed and stored locally in your browser. The website's own JavaScript does not send your gift records to any external server.

However, like any website, this site is hosted somewhere. Hosting providers and other third-party services may process standard server logs, security logs, or network traffic as part of operating the infrastructure that delivers the page to your browser. What they collect and how they handle it depends on the actual hosting configuration and the provider's own privacy practices. If you deploy this site yourself, those practices will be determined by your chosen hosting provider (for example, Cloudflare) and its policies.

What localStorage is — and is not

Browser localStorage is convenient and private to your device, but it is not an encrypted vault. Anyone with access to your browser profile could view your saved records. You should avoid saving highly sensitive personal information in Gift Memory Saver.

What can cause data loss

  • Clearing your browser's site data, cookies, or cache.
  • Using private or incognito mode, which discards storage when the window closes.
  • Uninstalling your browser or resetting your device.
  • Losing or damaging your device.
  • Browser storage limits, which can prevent new records or photos from being saved.

To protect your records, use the Export backup feature on the home page to download a JSON copy. Keep that file somewhere safe.

Keeping backups safe

An exported backup file may contain personal information — names, dates, notes, and photos. Treat it like any other personal document. Store it somewhere you trust, and be careful about sharing it.

Analytics and tracking

This website does not include analytics or tracking scripts in its own code. If you deploy the site yourself and add analytics or other third-party scripts, those services will have their own privacy implications that are outside the scope of this policy.

Children

Gift Memory Saver is intended for general use. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, and no personal information is collected by the website itself.

Changes to this page

This page may be updated over time. If you deploy this site yourself, please review and adjust this privacy information to match your actual hosting setup and any third-party services you add.
